Hah, good one! Joe Tartini, Tony Vivaldi and Joe Green - they sound like some Chicago-based mobsters! Which one is the hitman?

Excellent musico-epicurean criticism. Why oh why can't we have more stuff like this?

Today : Tony Vivaldi : Juditha triumphans devicta Holofernis barbarie (RV644). Well, it is his birthday or something. Makes a change to the usual Four Weather Systems of the Year.

I'd be quite happy with Spring, it's perpetual Winter that's tiresome! Listening to Schubert's Notturno for piano trio and the two string trios D.581, D.471.

My dear 'fisher of men', you really should try a bit of Haydn to cheer you up. When I get fed up with Louis, I put on some Papa; when Papa begins to annoy me, I put on some Louis. They seem to complement each other so well.

I've had some good luck with the local radio station and just happened to catch Beethoven's 2nd Piano Concerto yesterday, the 2nd Symphony this morning, and caught a bit of Rage over a Lost Penny.

I am listening to Haydn's L'anima del filosofo, ossia Orfeo ed Euridice, the last opera he wrote, but which went sadly unperformed until 1951!

Roehre, the "Messe de Nostre Dame" by Machaut is absolutely wonderful is it not? I remember first hearing it when I studied Renaissance music for Musicology 1 decades ago. I can't give it up!!
