If you only had one week in Bonn 2020...

Hello all. Haven't been here in ages. The prospect of 2020 has brought me back

Frankly, I am overwhelmed by all the planned festivities for LvB's birthday year. I'd like to attend at least one (if not several) big concerts. But don't know where to start. If I only have one week in Europe should I wait for the big Final Concert in December 2020?

Or might someone be kind enough to cherry-pick a few events that are absolute must's?

However, in addition to Bonn, I was hoping to time it with this ultimate Fidelio in Covent Garden:https://www.roh.org.uk/productions/f...tobias-kratzer

Shall I plan to do everything in March then? But, oh, then I will miss his actual birthday month.

    Thanks all!

Hi Peter, nice to hear from you too.

I did see that thread and did go to the Beethovenfest site. However, I'm confused by the dates they list: https://www.beethovenfest.de/en/prog...erts/calendar/

Starts in Sept and ends in March. Huh?

Presumably they have it backwards and mean March to Sept 2020. But why stop in Sept? LvB's birthday is Dec. 2020.

You wrote there's a Beethoven Gala and Final Concert in Dec. But where would I find the listing for them?

      Thnx!

PS -- I still think the Royal Opera House is the place to be in March! Kaufmann & Davidsen! I recently discovered Lise Davidsen's powerhouse voice and it is ELECTRIFYING. https://www.prestomusic.com/classica...er-and-strauss

So jealous of all you Brits with easy access to it. Plus you have the Proms! Maybe I should use Fidelio as the best excuse to visit the UK for the first time? Hmm?

The dates on that site are definitely for Sept 2019 and March 2020. The site I think you want is this one (I noticed the old link on the thread I posted no longer works). https://www.bthvn2020.de/ If you're planning on visiting the UK, there is a year long Beethoven celebration at the SouthBank centre London. https://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/wh.../beethoven-250
