I can hardly wait to see how you like the Bernstein Fidelio and then want to recommend another opera: Rossini's La Cenerentola, conducted by Abbado on DVD, which I am equally excited about.

I rarely use the Beethoven Only station. It is up but no music comes out for me. Here is a nice Beethoven Station that tells you what is playing and has a play list:

By the way, did you ever get to watch the Bernstein Fidelio DVD? How did you like it?

Rocco and I have been watching Rossini's La Cenerentola and have an Abbado DVD that is absolutely wonderful. You would love it.

Aeolian, I found your original link at the start of your thread, and I can bring up the website but I can't get any sound - so it's not just you!
It does seem to be down a lot, doesn't it? Have you tried locating other radio stations?
I listen mostly to CDs so I don't miss it that much! Hopefully, it will come back up again.

Harvey funny you metnion the 6th- remember I had got a dodgy CD of it? Well, I ordered another CD off EBay and it hadn't arrived a week later, so couple of days ago I emailed the seller to see when it was posted and I was told last week. This morning I ordered yet another CD of the 6th and just as I had done that, the postman came and put the one I thought lost through the door! So now I will have 2 copies of the Pastoral!
I haven't listened to it yet though, will do later.
What's your favourite recording of it so far?

I started listening to the paavo jarvi sixth and ejected the disk partway through the first movement. First movement was way too fast for the pleasant feelings upon arriving in the country side. The other 4 movements were okay. Much better the Otto Klemperer recording of the sixth!

Just now printing the poems of the five movements you posted. I have been dwelling on the 6th and the more I listen to it the more I like it. It is a symphony that one could never tire of, and can explore over and over again.
