The Battle of Waterloo- 200 years ago today

In 1815 two men faced off in a muddy field in Belgium. Wellington, with his British and Allied army, and Napoleon with his French Imperial Guard. One decisive battle could end 20 years of bloody conflict on the continent.

It was a showdown between two of history’s military giants. They were the same age, formidable strategists and had a string of victories behind them. By 18 June, the outcome hung in the balance and the victor would determine the fate of Europe.

Didn't look at the links but would that second quote be the occasion for Beethoven's Wellington's Victory?
"Life is too short to spend it wandering in the barren Sahara of musical trash."

Wellington's Victory was for the Duke of Wellington's battle with Napoleon’s brother in 1813.
