Wild rabbits, of which there seem to be an infinite supply. There is one sitting right outside my window here at work, in fact. Starting at me. Daring me to plant a garden out there so that he can eat everything in it. Well, not today, Peter Cottontail! I know I've lost that battle. The only way I am going to be able to feed myself with a garden is if I use it as bait and then make stew out of all the rabbits who show up for the feast!

Awww how cute. If were me I'd go out and give him a bit of salad!

The rabbits continue their assault upon me! Today at work a baby rabbit ran into the shipping department while the doors were open. We eventually managed to pull him out from behind the desk where he was hiding, trap him in a jacket, and put him back outside. I voted for stew, but the others wouldn't have it

How can you suggest a baby goes into a stew Chris?
Poor little thing- probably got lost from his mother...

I don't know whether he was still with his mother. The shipping manager said she saw a bird pick him up and try to fly off with him, but then dropped him. So either way, this little guy had a couple of lucky escapes today.
So I spared him from my stew today, but if I catch him near my house eating all my plants, all bets are off...
Which reminds, me - the repellent you spray on your plants to keep rabbits away? This is apparently nothing but a delicious salad dressing to them.

He must be so tiny, poor little thing!

He is a baby and you have plenty to eat, have some compassion..

But will either make them ill later or kill other wildlife. Repellents are vile.

Pet rabbits are cute. But farmers hate wild rabbits eating the crops.
Now the roses have nice healthy buds , I noticed the leaves on one particular rose bush has black spot already. I know it wont kill the roses but I don't want it to spread.
So, what is the best natural prevention for this ugly blight? Some kind of spray I can use.

Good for you not using chemicals. I'm using milk - 2 parts water to one part milk, it helps, but won't cure. I've also underplanted the worst affected bushes with Chives.

Ah, thanks Peter, I'm pleased you mentioned using milk - with 2 parts water, how often should I spray it on and what time of day? Also I will grow chives underneath the worst one, though there are pansies there . Is it too late to plant chives?

I spray them once a week in the evening - you should find some chives at your garden centre, give it a go!
