    Alice Sommer-Herz

This remarkable lady sadly passed away yesterday (23.02.14) aged 110 - with her musicianship, spirit of optimism and forgiveness a shining example to the world.

Thank you Peter, I have just seen this in the news.
Music spoke through her and she spoke through her music.
She was an extraordinary lady and her life seemed to mirror the tormented history of the 20th century. But she would have always said that music has power to heal.
I am glad to have read her book and seen the movie, her story has had quite a profound effect on me.

    May she rest in peace.

Yes she was inspirational and we can't begin to imagine what she has been through, yet so optimistic and full of love. Schnabel felt that she was so good he had nothing to teach her - praise indeed.

On BBC Radio four tonight @ 8:30, there will be a short commemoration programme about her life.
My music tutor phoned me to tell me, so I shall definately listen in.
