      Yes, in the Eroica, there's that "giddy-up, giddy-up" rhythmic motif in the development section that some have equated with Napoleon riding across the battlefield. Yes, I can see it now, against that swaying main theme rhythm (minim + crotchet, minim plus crotchet, crotchet + crotchet + crotchet...) suggesting the ebb and flow of massed troops in battle, the sfzs implying sabre thrusts or canon fire...
      Do forgive me, I'm having a flight of fancy...

        Such a warlike fellow, our Beethoven. Makes for some pretty bellicose earworms, I'd say. And when the worm turns ... ?
