having trouble with the forum permissions...

Chris, lately when I try to post or edit there is a message that says I do not have the permission to post and to try logging in again. Then when I logout my username still appears to be logged in. So, I log back in and still get the same messages. It is quite bothersome. Just wondering if there is anything you can do about it? Thanks.

I've never heard of this happening. It could be a problem with security settings or cookies on your end.

Is anyone else here having these problems?

I deleted my cookies, but it is still doing it? I will check my security settings now. Here is the message I just got:

      1. You do not have permission to perform this action. Please refresh the page and login before trying again.

If anyone else is reading this, please respond with either yes or no: have you experienced the problem Preston is describing, or any other problem with permissions/logging in and out?

I have never experienced any glitches logging in on this site. May I also take this moment to mention that it is a pleasure to be a member of such a professionally run Beethoven site.

I seem to remember Terry mentioning a while back that he was also experiencing diffiiculty logging in.

Wish my life was as problem free !

I, too, would like to take a moment to second that. Completely.

Chris, my IE security settings are on Medium-High. I have not made any customizations to the security settings, so they are default.

I will try right after this post to take my settings to medium and see if that helps. If it does not I will download and install Firefox, and see what that does.

            Thanks Chris.

I changed them to Medium with no luck. To be more clear, incase it helps, here the few problems:

              1) I am getting restrictions when I try to save an edited post - so I have to go advanced to edit the post which requires logging in again.

              2) When I login and make a post I have to log in again to post it.

              3) When I logout it still says (sometimes) in the whose online section of the homepage of the forum that I am still logged in?

              4) When I try to post a quick reply I am denied with a permissions message and have to go to advanced, which requires logging in again, and then post.

Those are pretty much the key problems.

OK. Everything seems to be working with Firefox. I have no idea what the problem could be with IE? IE is up-to-date. Perhaps one of the last updates Microsoft sent out happened to cause some problems?

May I second that? Any time I have had minor problems Chris has been able to sort them out very quickly. He seems to keep a 24/7 lookout!

That's entirely possible. IE isn't very good, and often fails to conform to standards. I imagine it's a bug they accidentally introduced and will fix in a future update. Though I would use Firefox or Chrome. Chrome is particularly nice, and it's my current browser of choice.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words about the forum.

With Firefox I have not had any problems, whatsoever. That would be a definitive "no", Chris.

I also seem to have lost the automatic spell function.

                              Now that is ironic!
