I thought this was quite interesting. I am for it. Though, I wonder why instead of hiring an orchestra such as the London Philharmonic, they do not buy older recordings of smaller yet very professional orchestras?

Not sure I agree - why should it be free? Musicians have to make a living and recordings are a major source of income. Just think of all the work an orchestral player has put in to reach that standard and then say you can have it all for nothing, especially as many recordings are already available at cheap prices.

Yes Peter, I think you are right. The orchestras are struggling as it is, and they do not ask much for recordings. Instead of setting classical music "free" he may be killing classical music, at least in our time.
