    Lisa Gerrard...

I greatly enjoy the music of Lisa Gerrard and was wondering if anyone else enjoyed her music as well? She has an amazing voice and amazing feeling for the music. Sometimes, I think she is the Liszt of the voice??? I cannot say "Beethoven of the voice", because I believe she is so far from it. As I said, she has a great feel for music. Also, the "language" she sings in, is not an actual language, it is more of an expression of feeling.

    Here are some examples:

It's pleasant music Preston, but I think camparisons with Liszt inappropiate! For a truly amazing and powerful voice listen to Jessye Norman singing the Liebstod from Tristan und Isolde - especially at 3'30 on.

Another incredible gorgeous voice from Kathleen Battle.

A nice piece for Hollywood to watch her favourite conductor.

Yes, I imagine you are right about the Liszt comparison. It is just that she has such a powerful voice and she is full of such much emotion and feeling. I knew when I made the comparison to Liszt that I was probably getting off-track, though I love her voice. I am glad you enjoyed it though.

          Thank you for the recommendation.
