I don't know - why should the results be different for different people? Surely the search results should be consistent? Weird and I'm none too pleased if I'm the only one who can find my own site!

I did a little experiment. I searched for the string "beethoven", first with the google search that (in Firefox) is at the upper right of my browser (next to where the URL's are input). Then I searched from the google website the same string. The order of the results was slightly different. The forum did not show up on the first page, but when I searched "beethoven forum" it was on the bottom of the first page, using both search methods.

I've sort of found out why - it brings up that result for me when I'm signed into igoogle but not otherwise. Somehow it's producing that result but I haven't specified any settings for that, it just seemed to know - odd because I rarely go into the site from a search. The bottom line is that for some inexplicable reason the site is still nowhere to be found on Google despite it appearing if you type in the url and despite the fact that it ranks highly with yahoo and is listed with Dmoz.

No Preston but I do work with Google webmaster and I am still working on ways of improving the site ranking. Thanks for your interest and help.

That seems to be how you register a domain, right?

The domain is already registered and verified - if you type the url in google the site will come up. It also has a listing on Dmoz and ranks high in Yahoo.
