have $150 for an orchestral library...

Well, Garritan Personal Orchestra 4 was just released for a good hearted and honest price. I have purchased it and find it good. It does not have all the different articulations that VSL has, but you could do a decent render with it. Saved me quite a lot of money. The great things about it are you can download it, install on up to 4 computers, it is not a massive library as far as size in gigabytes (so many of the libraries are monstrous in GB that it requires multiple hard drives), it is user friendly, etc.

I am aware that the reason they use such large file size samples is so you can achieve optimum sound, although, it is a too much. VSL SE is probably around 80 GB (I am guessing) while GPO4 is 3.3 GB.

If you want to have an orchestra at your fingertips than this is a simple way to easily install one.

Gerd uses GPO, so Gerd if you have anything to say about GPO4 please do?

Peter, now you have no excuse not to give it a try, lol.

Philip, thank you for your replies to my threads, I guess- although, I did not expect them to go anywhere.

Do you use music software by any chance?

This does look interesting. Pity, though, it isn't also a sequencer.

None of the sample programs have a sequencer built into them.

Nevertheless Sorrano, I have good news. Most sequencers cost around $500, but, there is a great sequencer that does all of that for $60! It is called Reaper, and, it is an amazing sequencer for an amazing price. So if you have around $200 you can get GPO and Reaper.

Here is a link to Reaper, http://www.cockos.com/reaper/ . You cannot beat the price.

I thought of buying Finale but with a $600 price, had to back off. I am waiting to see if the Rosegarden notation program comes out for Windows, hopefully so.

Not yet, but that is something that might have to wait until January; budget constraints abound at this time.

East West Quantum Leap is having a buy one sample library get one free for equal or lesser value. I will be getting the choir and the pianos- well, certainly the choir.

The way the choir works is they sampled many samples of each vowel and syllable. Then, you put what you want the choir to say together, articulate them- and have the choir sing what you want it too. Really fascinating.

East West Quantum Leap is offering a free orchestral library. It only consists of several basic articulations and instruments, although it is free!

So, if you have a keyboard and an ASIO compatible soundcard, you might want to download it just for the heck of it?

You will see the offer at the top of this website, just click on that and follow instructions.

Just thought I would/should mention it.

If you do not have an ASIO capable sound card then I suggest ASIO4ALL. It will turn you soundcard into an ASIO compatible soundcard.
