Still reading Beethoven "Orpheus" concerto by Owen Jander. If anyone wanted to have references (if access to the score is difficult, or not being able to read music) we would need to define a common CD for the sake of timings.

Also still reading the latest Taruskin collection of "anti-utopian" essays mentioned on this forum (see passim). There are no score-based examples, and well worth the read. Is it so much to ask?

PS : Who is/was Korky the Cat?

PDG's avatar - a character in the Taruskin collection of "anti-utopian" essays - sorry, I meant "The Dandy", a well-known comic-book which every schoolboy in Ireland and England (and certainly Scotland) read in the forties, fifties and right up to the present day.
Really, the swings between esoteric erudition and extreme lunacy in this forum leaves one quite giddy.

I know what extreme lunacy is, but I fail to see anything esoterically erudite in my postings. Even Beethoven had to study harmony and counterpoint several times in his life.

Why did you think I was referring to you when I mentioned esoteric erudition? Maybe it was extreme lunacy .......

Because you have accused me of esoteric/erudite irrelevance before (see passim).

Take a dictionary, and check it out for yourself. You were a high school teacher, I'm sure you know what such an object is. Don't you?

Yes, I am rather erudite, thank you. Purrrr.......

Gnasher? Gnasher? Oh, yes - Dennis the Menace's dog, right?
(Quite over Philip's head, I'm afraid).

One of the villains in the second Sherlock Holmes novel, "The Sign of Four" was an Andaman islander who killed his victims with a blowpipe full of poisoned darts. Hasn't got much to do with the above, but when I hear the word "Andaman" it conjures up images of that novel, which was commissioned by a publisher at a dinner with Conan Doyle and Oscar Wilde. The upshot was the Holmes book and "The Picture of Dorian Gray".
