This absolutely priceless satire of the Germans is from Sid Caesar, produced in 1954. The days of satire have largely vanished and it has been noted that in the heyday of Caesar and his cronies the IQ of the viewing public was significantly higher than it became after the mass-production of televisions. This was made less than 10 years after WW2 and Caesar was a Jew. Not a scintilla of grievance, resentment or victimhood, which is just extraordinary and it explains why Jews have always been so successful. They are self-deprecatingly funny and can-do.

The last really funny thing I remember seeing with Sid Caesar was him trying to liberate himself and his wife (in the film "It's a Mad, Mad World") from a hardware store. Here's a little 'best of' sequence from that film:

Memories from back in the day when Americans still had a sense of humour.

        Q. Why do the French like eating snails?

A: Because they dislike fast food.

I'm delighted to see that a thread I created back in 2008 is still going strong - most gratifying!

For those sniggering over Harrison Birtwistle, here's an interview with modern composer Arthur "Two Sheds" Jackson talking about his new symphony: https://youtu.be/CA8xTGP_M8g
PS: anyone recognise the piece shown in the background?

When I was a young man, I vowed never to marry until I found the ideal
woman. Well, I found her -- but alas, she was waiting for the ideal man.

                            Hello Enrique!
It was just a silly aural joke of mine: you know on TV sometimes there is a comic who delivers a gag (a joke) and the drummer off-scene on the TV set plays a quick drum and high-cymbal gesture to underline the comic's "punchline".
