    On May 23rd, 1814 - After its third revision, Beethoven's opera Fidelio is staged in Vienna's Kaerntnertortheater.
    Beethoven said of this work, "The whole business with the opera is the most tiresome thing in the world, for I am dissatisfied with everything There is almost no piece which would really and sincerely satisfy me."

    Thanks for the reminder. I can readily imagine that he was sick and tired of the opera, after 10 years getting it into presentable shape.
