Authenticity debate on pre-19th century music-Beethoven

Can anyone tell me about the debate on the authenticity debate on pre-nineteenth century music. For instance Wagners arrangement of Beethoven 6th, bars 91-100.
Is there any other examples related to this debate. Any imformation will do.

We've discussed the authenticity issue here many times, if you search through all the posts you should find lots of comments. There have been numerous attempts at rewriting Beethoven's music, some deliberate attempts to improve the score, others just adding improvised elaborations. Ironically we have been discussing the latter recently in the 'God Save the King' chain.
