Does the development of the Allegro ma non troppo of the violin concerto start in measure 284 with the second appearance of the violin solo? Is this the longest of Beethoven's developments?

Well I would think the development proper actually starts at bar 300. No it isn't the longest development section he wrote, the Eroica for example is on a much grander scale. The feeling of such length in the concerto is probably due to the tradition started by Joachim of dropping the tempo considerably at the G minor section (bar 330).
