As promised, here is one of my favorite sopranos: Lucia Popp. I love her portrail of the Queen of the Night from Mozart's Magic Flute. She is one of the few sopranos that can clearly reach those high notes in the aria "Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen" without sounding like a cat that got its tail run over. Popp also sang the role of Marzelline in Beethoven's Fidelio, performed by the Vienna State Opera Chorus and the Vienna Philharmonica, conducted by Leonard Bernstein, 1978.
