    Rare Page - WoO43 nr3

We have featured some of the duets for mandolin and FP before - in case anyone thinks there is a new mystery to rival the IB, Beethoven's dedication to 'la belle J' most probably refers to Countess Josephine Von Clary for whom Beethoven also composed Ah! perfido.

I was worrying about possible IB connections being made myself (!), but like the other pieces of this kind we have had on the rare page this is a very engaging composition by B for the fp and mandolin.

I like this one a lot. I think this is the perfect kind of stuff to have on the rare page, too. Most people probably don't even know that Beethoven composed music for the mandolin.

And what is the difference between this piece WoO43/2 and the later arrangement of it, published on the rare page, WoO43/3?

Trust you to ask such a question! I'm afraid I haven't got the nr2 version.

OH! I thought you had Beethoven's complete works. It doesn't matter anyway.

Well, not absolutely complete. But complete enough now to my satisfaction, but perhaps not to yours!?

Hey, Rodders, don't be embarrassed that you didn't understand it. You need to roll around on the floor a bit more (maybe when Newcastle win the Premiership?)...

Did you not think I was aware of the double meaning when I was writing my 'roll around' comment earlier? That was MY joke. Better than your crude repetition of it in the same chain! Ah.. you still have a lot to learn about comedy...
