I don't think its obscene at all from my recollection. But if you want it you can have it! Trouble is that B wrote a lot of excellent songs that are never heard.

Der Kuss ? Obscene ??? That is new ! And you are right ROD : B. is nore the father of the lied than SCHUBERT... He wrote a lot of lieder really interesting to hear and to sing. The real trouble is that there are more difficult to sing than Schubert technically and few singers put them in their repertoires. The other reason is also that Beethoven is so well known for his piano and orchestra musica than people forget a lot of his other music !

Wise words as always Claudie. However may I suggest, in addition to your reasons above, that all to often the lieder singers lack the taste and good judgement to include more Beethoven songs in their programmes? I'll stick a few songs for the page. Whilst on this subject I only today got my hands of a big Beethoven rareity on CD - the piano sonata for 4 hands op6. I'll put a track from that also. I'd like to offer the Great Fugue for 4 hands also, which is excellent but is much too long - the MP3 file would be too big.
