Mahler 10.symphony

2 weeks agao I spent my vaccations hiking in the most beautiful Dolomites. Accidentally we lived 10 minutes away from the place where Mahler spent his last 3 summers composing the symphonies 9 and 10.

Lucky you! I haven't been to the Dolomites for many years but I remember how beautiful it was and how superb the food was also. You didn't say if you visited the hut? Do you know what state it is in today as the video was 9 years ago? He comments that perhaps Mahler wouldn't have minded the pigs but we know he had to have absolute silence (I know how he felt).

Now the hut is not reachable at all for the public anymore. The owner must be a strange person, but I was in the house where he lived with his family which was beautiful..

Just came across this by chance -Mahler's composing hut at Maiernigg which is in a much better state than the one at Toblach.
