Interesting, though I must say I prefer the longer hairstyles from back then, and I often lament I can't wear mine like that! -
No,no,no!!! It doesn't work at all for me. Yuk! Please, let us all remember Beethoven with messy hair. That is the only hairdo that suits him and his music!Comment

This portrait is my favorite of a younger Beethoven. Here his hair is shorter, darker and would be quite acceptable today. I think that most people picture Beethoven as he looked in his 50s and may not recognize him at all from his portraits when he was in his 20s.
In the 1980s I had an artist in Los Angeles paint a copy of the 1803 Christian Horneman portrait of Beethoven (pictured below) and it has hung on my walls ever since in both L.A. and now in Vienna.
