    Beethoven Reference Site

Hello everyone - The Beethoven reference site has closed so from today you will not be able to access the forum from there. However this forum will continue with the same address as before - http://www.gyrix.com/forums/index.php

I made the decision to remove the reference site because I think it has served its purpose over the past 20 years and I think there are better resources available online now than there were back then.

Thank you Peter for maintaining this site for so long. I visited it many many times over the years (sometimes at work.... !).

What I can say is it was an excellent site and with a beautiful layout. It's a pity, Peter, it is no longer available.

Having the reference site up for 20 years is a great accomplishment. Thank you! Hopefully, the forum will be up for another 20 more.

Danke Peter for your continuing passion and work with this wonderful site. I still can't believe that this site is over 20 years online. I have been a fan since the beginning and I will continue to visit this site everyday as I have since I became a member. I'll never forget the trip you made here to Vienna so many years ago. I really enjoyed getting to meet you in person and I really loved showing you all of the Beethoven must see sights here in Vienna.

Thank you for all of your blood, sweat and tears that you have put into this site. I know that I may not post as often as I did in the beginning but I do look through this site everyday. This site has and will remain a part of my life for as long as I remain here in Vienna. Danke!

It's hard to believe it was 20 years since you started the Reference Site. I migrated from "The Beethoven Depot" (remember that) way back in 2000! Thanks!
I'm so relieved the forum is still continuing.

Yes it's amazing how the time has gone. Quite a few of us here I think migrated from the Beethoven Depot!

The facade of the Depot is still standing:

Who used to run the Beethoven Depot site, was it our former member Rod Corkin?

No, if my memory serves me right it was Paul someone or other, could be completely wrong!

I was looking for that the other day. Now I know what happened. There was no way to leave it in archival form for continued access? Or, what if we link to some of the other Beethoven reference sites out there so they can be easily found by visitors or users of this site.

I don't think that there is another Beethoven reference site as such, but there are several other Classical Music forums that discuss Beethoven's music along with other composers. In the past, I have given BRS link to some members of classical music forums that I am on. though my frequency of visits to those sites has dwindled somewhat, with the exception of one and only one that is my favourite.
