Classic FM Hall of Fame 2020

I don't think I've ever sat through a full day of this annual poll, but being in lockdown like so many others, I had an unexpectedly pleasant Easter Monday as I blasted this music through my open windows. (Luckily I'm in a fairly secluded suburb and the sun was shining.)

It was nice to see our favourite composer dominating the Top Twenty and almost causing the Lark to descend. This bird has been number one for ten years!

I think we all need Beethoven in these weird and horrible days.
I hope you are all keeping well. (A trite remark but sincere.)

Thanks for that Michael and glad to know you are well. Yes music is a terrific antidote to the miseries this virus is causing - I'm playing a lot more than I was able to before. Re. the Hall of fame, I've never understood the great popularity of 'The Lark ascending' - honestly it is so long and dreary and to my mind the perfect example of what Constant Lambert referred to as 'Cow-pat music' in his estimitation of the early 20th century English pastoral music!
