Losing a valuable violin like that must be very distressing. I hope the finder will have the good will to hand it in to a police station.
I have left a bag on a bus with a couple of items I bought as gifts, nothing terribly valuable, reported to the bus depot but that was never found. On an other occasion some kind person handed me back a £20 note I dropped.
