Eroica most loved Symphony by conductors

Today I read this interesting article :
    https://www.theguardian.com/music/20...-mozart-mahler

Would you agree? (I dont know whether this has been discussed here before)

It's not my favorite, but as for it being the greatest...maybe. If we take into account how innovative it was when it was composed, then I do agree.

I love Beethoven's Sym. #3. I really didn't hear it performed mush at all back when I was a kid. It wasn't until 1987 when I watched the TV mini-series "Napoleon and Josephine" starring Armand Assante as Napoleon. I loved this series, especially Armand Assante's performance (I admit I had quite the crush on him as Napoleon). In this series the music of Beethoven's Eroica was to be heard often and that's when I feel in love with it. So, for the last 32 years, every time I hear Beethoven's Sym. #3, I think of Armand Assante as Napoleon. Crushes die hard.
"God knows why it is that my pianoforte music always makes the worst impression on me, especially when it is played badly." -Beethoven 1804.

The BBC put out this award-winning drama in 2003. It deals with the first performance of the Eroica:

I saw that picture. It's very good and the orchestra playing is the Revolutionary and Romantic.
