    Spring music

A selection of pieces inspired by spring. Why do they always omit Beethoven when it comes to these things? His Violin sonata Op.24 and how about Haydn's 'The Seasons'?

Good question, Peter. Beethoven's Op. 24 is a wonderful piece. Maybe it's disqualified because it was only given the name "Spring" after Beethoven's death?

And as for Haydn's "The Seasons", I think that piece has never gotten the attention it deserves.

What about the 6th Symphony, or is that more inspired by Summer?

Yes I would think Summer was more applicable to the 6th.

I'm not so sure. Is there not a "cuckoo call" in one of the movements? Don't cuckoos start their singing in spring?
It's true that Beethoven took his sojourns out of Vienna in the summer, but still !
