I am listening to my Hanover Band Beethoven symphony cycle.

I just ordered David Zinman's Beethoven symphony cycle.

That's one of my favorites. We were so fortunate to have David Zinman with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in the 80s and 90s!

I'd been toying with getting another cycle for a long time. I think this is a good addition to my current assemblage of LvB symphony cycles which includes:

              Monteux
              Ferencsik
              Szell
              Bernstein NYPO
              Wand
              Hanover
              Leibowitz
and what symphonies Fricsay recorded (1,3,5,7,8,9)

Bruckner symphony no.8 - I can understand why this was Karajan's favourite symphony.
                  Also Brahms piano trio no.1.

Today listening again and again and again to this stunning performance of Brahms Symphony #2 with the Vienna Philharmonic and Carlos Kleiber from 1991. Just look at 7'52" to 8'10" and you get the idea about what this music means to Kleiber and I think we would all understand his response!!!

That is my favorite, as well, of the Bruckner Symphonies. My favorite recording is with Bernard Haitink, though.

Today. as the weather is fine and dry, it's the "Lawnmower Symphony" by my wife. (In F of course).
It starts off rather sluggishly and ends like Schubert's B minor symphony.

At least it isn't in F-Flat Minor.

My main problem is that the lawnmower was not sharp, F or otherwise. And I wasn't sharp enough to disappear in time.
Anyway, later I listened to Beethoven's transcription for piano of the Grosse Fuge - just for relaxation.
It was nice to be flat for a time.

And if you were younger I would have to call you a flat minor.

A, but you C, I'd have to B much younger.
