Schubert - Piano Sonata No. 20 in A major, D 959 - Alfred Brendel
For some reason Schubert's music has never really resonated with me. But I have been listening to this sonata quite a bit. As always, Brendel's playing brings out the best the music has to offer.
The main theme of the final movement of this sonata is wonderful, one of my favorites in the standard piano repertoire. I believe the first time I heard it was as the theme song to the 90's American sitcom Wings, in a version with solo cello and orchestra.
