Where can I get information about Herbert von Karajan? What do you think about his performance of Symphony No.9?

He must have made a thousand performances of No9! Which one? I've only heard one (DG 'Galeria' remaster) not bad, I recall.

Perhaps this is the same version which I have. This is a re-release of a 1963 cycle, which I feel is pretty good. In the past couple of days I've been listening to the 9th and I think it's done well.

Herbie has made at least five recordings of the Ninth, three in stereo and one in video - and, as Rod says, they are not bad.
But he should never have been left anywhere near the Sixth!

And what about any information about him? Is there any dedicated site?

Did he always conduct with the eyes closed?

Perhaps the BPO weren't too good looking in those days?

I've given this a second listen to in the last day or two (from the 1963 cycle) and overall I was impressed with the energy of the performance. However, it bogged down a bit towards the end of the finale, during the slow section, but picked up for the end. I will listen to it again.
