W. A. Mozart: Piano Sonata C-Minor KV457 I. Allegro - for Orchestra

Dear Peter, thank you so much for giving me the hint to Mozart's great c-minor sonata!!
First I thought this sonata would not fit for an orchestration but as I tried I soon found out that this movement indeed is VERY suitable for a
symphonic Allegro

Yes this works extremely well - what a great piece! It has a Schubertian feel with this version I think, along the lines of his symphony no.4.

I enjoy all your transcriptions. Midi recordings I assume? Back when your average consumer grade PC was more midi friendly I assembled a pretty decent orchestral soundfont bank from freeware instrument files. Woodwinds and French horns were particularly nice. Alas, the bank ceased working properly due to a Windows or Soundblaster upgrade. While still able to use the bank I created my own midi versions of all but the opening movement of Haydn's symphony No.88 and movement three from Mozart's 41st symphony and burned them into audio files usable on my CD player. For the life of me I can no longer find that CD. I likely didn't label it properly and at some point forgot what it was and junked it. I still have my midi files of those pieces, but they sound crappy when heard via Windows stock midi bank.

After orchestrating the first movement I finished now also the other 2 wonderful movements of this piano sonata KV 457 - what a beautiful experience for me to create a symphony from this awesome sonata - thank you Peter, without you I never would have done it!

Peter, no, I really can't imagine the KV 475 fantasia other than for piano. But instead I try the expressive B-minor Adagio KV 540

Well it could work well if you added piano - the opening and end could be just orchestral. Liszt arranged Schubert's Wanderer fantasy for piano and orchestra.

How about the beautiful Rondo in A minor?

By the way, in some article I recently read that Bethovens' Pathetique Adagio theme is inspired by the second theme of Mozart's
Adagio (at 2:58, actually the first 3 notes)) - would you agree?

I can't believe how long ago the original post for this thread was! Nice work as always Gerd - it's possible those notes stuck in Beethoven's subconscious as he was familiar with this sonata.

What do you mean with "sequence"? I just edited the notes with the dynamics into Finale, like here the score of the 1st movement:

Years ago I used Emajic's Logic Audio to sequence tracks, creating a score. That basically meant playing the notes on a MIDI instrument and the software created the music for playback. Logic Audio also was able to create scores from the track playing and was able to synchronize the tracks so that everything worked out time-wise with notes matching from one track to another.

So, NotePerformer is basically an addon to music notation software? Does it handle special effects very well, for example, tremolo effects in strings or timpani rolls, etc.?

I got behind the times with music technology and am trying to catch up, so I appreciate your responses very much!
