Had a heart-cath procedure this Wednesday so was either not able or not in the mood to listen to music until today. Chose to make my comeback this afternoon with the Heifetz led Mendelssohn Octet. Was saddened to find that the YouTube upload containing the entire piece visually accompanied by the score seems to have vanished. Thankfully an alternate exists, though it is broken into a video per movement except movement one which takes two videos, and there is no score.

                I echo this.

I'm currently listening to Brahms' Horn Trio.

Beethoven's cello sonata Op. 5-1 by Isserlis and Levin (no Youtube link). This really is a fantastic set.

During supper tonight I listened to a CD containing Schubert's Rosamunde Overture and the Ninth Symphony, performed by the Berlin Philharmonic under Wilhelm Furtwangler.

Sometime these past several days I listened to a CD containing the Mozart horn concertos played by Anthony Halstead natural horn backed by The Hanover Band under Roy Goodman. In this recording the Concerto in D is stripped of Sussmayr's modifications. It makes an interesting alternative, but truth to tell I prefer the Sussmayr edition. Also, heard through my living room audio system the soloist comes across with welcome presence and immediacy while the accompaniment sounds comparatively distant and muffled.

Tonight at YouTube I listened to / watched a performance of Schubert's string quintet linked here not too terribly long ago.

Yes, that was a good find! I've listened to them a few times - very relaxing.

                                Mozart: Symphony #25 in G minor K. 183
                                Sir Charles Mackerras/PCO
An excellent performance. K. 183 is syncopation and counterpoint city. It is spellbinding.
