Earlier this evening I watched / listened to another of the Jansons / Bavarian Radio Orchestra Beethoven symphony videos, this time third. Very nice horn work throughout, crisp with ample presence when needed. I've been impressed with the three symphonies in the series I've heard in their entireties thus far, this one, seven and nine. I started in on Symphony No.1 but was too groggy to concentrate so aborted not far in to movement one.

We'll see how it compares to Jos van Immerseel's cycle which is coming in the mail.

I've heard good things about that. Did you get it from Amazon Harvey?

Mozart symphony no.25 in G minor - I always like to pair this by way of comparison with Haydn's equally fine G minor symphony, no.39.

Followed Aeolian's link and listened to this version of the Pathetique adagio, and I agree with the sentiment in the comment section
