I was supposed to go to a concert last night (Mozart and Schubert) but due to having a ROTTEN cold, I couldn't go. I knew one of the performances was Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate, but I didn't think I knew it, so just tried not to think about being on the sofa in my pyjamas sneezing instead of being at the concert.
I just looked it up and it was written for a Castrato ( of whom I have been reading about on a coursera course and of whom I have a great interest anyway...) and I think it might have been on the Farinelli film as I am sure I have heard it before.
I am now VERY ANNOYED at my stupid cold!!! Why'd I have to get a STINKING cold NOW so I couldn't see this amazing Mozart motet???
I would have loved to have seen it- I expect it'd have been sung by a countertenor.
I have the Ninth to go to next month- I am stocking up the drugs cupboard before then- even if I have to rattle with pills I am not missing that!!!
Here is Michael Maniaci who is said to have a very castrato like voice:

He's amazing isn't he! I bet Mozart would like his voice.
