    Lost Beethoven hymn - Pange lingua

    Professor Barry Cooper -- one of the world's leading experts on the composer --found the work which Beethoven composed in about 1820, written alongside some original sketches of the famous Mass in D, known as the Missa Solemnis, in a sketchbook now in Berlin.

    Pange Lingua Gloriosi Corporis Mysterium is a hymn written by St Thomas Aquinas (1225–1274) for the Feast of Corpus Christi .

        I think it is a sketch he was making a variation on Megan.

          Had the same reaction as Cooper. This is Beethoven? Really? I think I did read somewhere that he was considering using Gregorian chant in his Missa Solemnis.... don't remember where.

            Yes, Barry mentions that in the article- it was found in Beethoven's sketchbook.
