    R. Schumann: chamber music

So far I never really appreciated Schumann's chamber music (string quartetts, ...), but now I heard some incredible beautiful pieces, which I never heard before:

Violin Sonata No. 2 in d minor, III. Adagio (for me, one of the most beautiful chamber music Adagios I know, certainly the best from Schumann!):

Violin Sonata No. 1 in A minor, Op. 105:

    Märchenbilder Opus 113 / 4:

Piano Trio 1, 4th mov. with a great main theme (at 24:55):

Are there other pieces which you can recommend to me?

Certainly, aside from the wonderful piano quintet which I'm sure you know, the Piano quartet in Eb Op.47, particularly the sublime 3rd movt Andante cantabile.

Thank you, Peter, I must admit did not really know these two works (though having heard once op. 47 many years ago) ! I especially love the Andante which you mentioned and the Finale of the piano quintett op. 44! Great stuff! Only the first movements don't impress me to much.

I'm sure you're familiar with Brahms' wonderful chamber music, but I wonder if you know the glorious Elgar Piano quintet, again particularly the glorious slow movement?

I always loved the orchestral music from Brahms, and I also wanted to do the same with his chamber music, but of all I heard, only the outstanding clarinette quintett op. 115 could deeply reach me - and also I love the first and second violin sonata, the Adagio from the third and the 1st and 2nd movement from the piano trio op. 8. The piano quintett in f-minor has a gorgeous main theme, but the rest unfortuneately leaves me cold ....

Thank you for the Elgar Adagio - beautiful ...
