I've worked my way through Brautigam's Mozart sonatas and moved on to the variations disks, listening to the first during yesterday's supper. Otherwise I returned several times to the Alla Turca with Janissary effects YouTube performance linked in this thread's predecessor.

Opus 69 performed by Isserlis and Levin. I've never heard the development section of the first movement (you know the moment) played so ferociously; it hits you like a brick wall.

Which conductor? My favorite of this and the 8th is Bernard Haitink.

The 8th and Te Deum may be the versions I saw on Youtube awhile back. I felt the performances were very satisfying.

                      This morning, bach to basics:

                      J S Bach: "Brandenburg" Concerto #3 in G, BWV 1048
                      C P E Bach: Flute Sonata #6 in G, "Hamburg," Wq 133 (H 564)

Beethoven's piano concerto 4 by Robert Levin for fortepiano and string quintet. Beethoven's most intimate piano concerto is made even more so. Apparently Beethoven oversaw this arrangement, with Franz Alexander Possinger reducing the orchestra to string quintet.

A modern day composer and pianist- Michael Sayers- this guy is super talented! His music has a real atmospheric 19th century feel. I like this a lot!
