            Mozart on fortepiano Rocks!

What can I say?! BLOOMING FANTASTIC!!! Has me groaning like Lurch and my hair standing on end! Eeerie, enigmatic and oozing atmosphere...

How anyone could prefer this on a sterile modern piano is beyond me....

A fine performance and yes, I like the sound of the instrument. I continue to prefer the Uchida ending, but that's neither here nor there.

Otherwise, I listened to disk 7 of Brautigam's Beethoven piano sonata set, containing sonatas 26, 27, and 29, via SACD, and his three opus 2s at YouTube. I'm growing to like Brautigam's take on opus 2 very much.

Yes, it does, but might be partly to the modern piano- would like to hear this on a piano of Mozart's time for comparison!

                          It's my favourite, too.

I listened to a number of interpretations of this work at YouTube including, if memory serves, one on fortepiano. None sound as avant garde as hal's link. This is an instance where I prefer the more "modern" piano sound and interpretation.

Your links tend to be bad for my wallet. I just ordered Brautigam's 10 disk Mozart Sonata & Variations set from Amazon. (Also ordered, Valentina Lisitsa playing Liszt and a fantasy novel.)

Otherwise, I listened to Brautigam's disk of pre opus Beethoven sonatas and suchlike.

Ferenc Fricsay conducting Beethoven symphonies 3, 5, 7, 8 and 9. Ah if only he had complete a whole cycle. My double disc set arrive in today's mail of 3,5,7 and 8. I already had 9. I know symphony 1 is out there on CD but the price is pretty high to get it. Would love to hear his 6th.

I like the early piano variations a lot.
