Of course it can not be any other than Mozart! Maybe I should ask from what period of his life (or range of K-Numbers) this marvellous work may come from. It is not an overture, but it is somewhat in the neighbourhood of one certain opera, which breathes a similiar spirit. Maybe this helps ...

Indeed, the work is written in the same period as the dramatic Idomeneo - it is the work "Thamos of Egypt" K 345:

I think is is great music, but it was no success for Mozart because the plot apparently was rather bad...
