You've certainly got some of my favourite composers in your list, but of course I have to ask Clara Schumann?

Mine as well - interesting how so far the suggestions have all been pretty similar and very much 'Classically' based.

Beethoven, Bruckner, Bartok (The 3 B's), Grieg, and Tchaikovsky. No particular order on these, either, it depends on what I am listening to. Then, again, I may hear something from another composer and the list might change for awhile. It's tough to have a set "favorite" composers that does not change frequently.

And Berlioz, I can't leave him off my Liszt.

Well, I haven't posted my favourites up till now because I find it difficult to pare them down to 5.
So here are 10 of my fav's .

                    Vivaldi
                    Bach
                    Biber
                    Beethoven
                    Mozart
                    Palestrina
                    Monteverdi
                    Brahms
                    Bruckner
                    Purcell

                      Much the same usual suspects:

                      1. Beethoven
                      2. Beethoven
                      3. Haydn
                      4. Mozart
                      5. Bach

Very predictable, I'm afraid. But outside the magic circle, my tastes are wide and outrageous.

I can't really say my top five, but Beethoven is #1 for sure. My listening is farily limited for most composers but I do have vocal works that I like very much from the works of Vivaldi, Mozart, Handel, Haydn, Bach, and Cherubini. And I do like Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. I think I could live on nothing but Beethoven with the exception of Handel's Messiah.

If we had been doing a Top 6, my last slot certainly would have been occupied by Handel. After that it would have probably moved to the Renaissance with Palestrina, Byrd, and Tallis. Then into the Romantic era with Tchaikovsky, probably. And then to something like Scott Joplin.

Yes of course narrowing it down to 5 is difficult and I go through phases as well with other composers, certainly Bruckner is one of my favourites - he never used to be!
