Hmm. I have never been much into Beethoven objects, but somehow collected some stuff over the years. They are scattered all over the place. Apart from old biographies and a beautifully illegible facsimile of op. 109 I have two (!) 1970 medallions of his 200th birthday, and a copy of his 1812 life mask. Last week while in Vienna a Viennese friend of mine had also bought me the death mask. It was hell to bring it home because it is very heavy, and would not have survived the flight home had it not been in my hand luggage.

My most favorite object though is a mysterious painting signed "J. Frenkel". It was painted at about 1930. I bought it at an auction for only a few bucks, many years ago. I find it a typical product of its time in style, but it is not bad isn't it? I have no clue about the origin, if there was an origin.

I like the portrait! A good likeness! His eyes are lighter than shown in the portraits of his day, but otherwise very good!

Don't have much in my Beethoven collection. Apart from my books, my dad's old records, some vintage postcards, a couple of busts that I brought from Venice and a 1812 copy of Beethoven's life mask. My favorite has to be the bust that my husband made out of the life mask which isn't finished yet. The base needs to be done out of wood with Beethoven's name on it. I tried to attach a thumbnail, hope it works, if not hopefully someone can tell me how....lol.

To Peter- I need to edit my posts as I moved my photobucket files into a folder and now I need to reload them- but there is no edit button on my posts. Can you fix this please?

As to Beethoven memorabilia, I have none. Aside for recordings on LP, CD, Laserdisc and DVD, I possess a small book library of three full biographies (Thayer, Suchet, Swafford) and a few odds and ends ("Beethoven and his Nine Symphonies" by George Grove, "Beethoven's Quartets" by Joseph de Marliave, "Beethoven's Sketches" by Paul Mies, "Beethoven: a documentary study compiled and edited by H.C. Robbins Landon", the latter sadly damaged during a long-ago military dormitory flooring incident that I suspect was not accidental).

I own a few full scores of his works:
                      • The nine symphonies.
                      • Wellington's Victory.
                      • Egmont (complete)
                      • Christ on the Mount of Olives.
                      • All string quartets.
                      • All the overtures.
                      • Most of his music for piano & winds, wind groups of various sizes, and military band. I do not, however, possess stuff like wind transcriptions of the symphonies and overtures.
                      • The six earliest published piano sonatas.
                      • Two piano trios.
                      • Several collections of "lesser" music.

Thankyou Aeolian Harp. My husband had a lot of problems with this project and it was touch and go for a while. I'm very happy with the end result.

Is he going to give Ludwig some irises? He'd look great with some...

Originally my husband did give him irises, but he looked a little crossed eyed, so I got my husband to change it. Beethoven still has irises but you can hardly see them, as they're now very faint.

This is a photo of my 1812 copy of Beethoven's life mask. It sits proudly on my piano, with my 3 busts that I bought in Venice. Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin.
