      Nice bargain. That is a particularly good set.

        Yes, it began when I picked up a Wand Eroica at the used CD shop. As it turns out the single Eroica CD is a 1989 live performance and the one on my symphony set is from 1985. Both very good.

            Except I get 3.555... in decimal.

            I just saw a CD yesterday at the used shop for about $8 USD that was two discs: Toscanini Beethoven Ninth and Missa Solemnis. If I didn't already have the Toscanini Ninth, I probably would have bought it!

                __ = 3.555.....

                9

                If you do it in base 9 it is still between 3 and 4.

                If I turn the calculation upside down which would be 9/32, I get 0.28125

                So I am lost.

                  My apologies. I was calculating nine tenths (as a fraction) x 32 = 28.8.

                  Too much nut wine last night, that's my excuse...hic...

                        But you got me going in the math department and now I think it is a very clean thing to express it in base 9 where 32/9 = 3.555.... becomes 35/10 which figures to 3.5, being that 10 now represents 9. (ooooh, almost looks like there is a 10th symphony, eh?)
