    Piano sonata op. 111 orchestrated

    After 3 weeks of really hard work I managed to finish the also orchestration the second movement from sonata op. 111! In the forte section in the middle my notation system could not really handle these complex rhythms, so it looks quite weird in the score. This movement is really a miracle and the process of orchestration has helped me to discover its beauties even more. Please listen to it and share with me you thoughts...

    Very nice Gerd - I find all your slow movement orchestrations particularly beautiful - it would be nice to hear a real orchestra play these.

      I find it highly intersting how the wonderful main theme came into being. The characteristic first 3 notes c"-g'-g' actually came in quite late, after he has begun with the variations! Only the second part of the theme (in a-minor) was quite clear right from the beginning (clearer in the first sketch than in the second):
