    Eroica, funeral march

    Is anyone able to tell me if there are different versions of this impressive second movement to B's third symphony?

    Not by Beethoven's hand that's for sure. Are you looking for arrangements of it made for other instruments? My recommendation is that you stick with the original!

        Yes.. I know what you're talking about... I have the London Festival Orchestra recording, and they play a shortened and mixed up version of the funeral march, very different from what I have in my Dover Score Edition of the symphony

          This mixed up version may have been the result of the recording editor and not some edition of the score! On Classic FM (UK) when they play B's Ode to Joy they always play a drastically edited (shortened) recording and never the complete score. Cheap and nasty for thick people.

            That would be very nasty indeed... but I don't think it's the case over here...

            I've actually heard mention of a shortened version of the Eroica dirge.
