          It seems we only hear a couple of Liszt's tone poems; it's a pity. His piano music is wonderful, as well.

          Khatchaturian is one I like very much, as well. Brilliant orchestration and, as you mentioned, sparkling! Kabalevsky, I think is similar in many ways.

                        The 4th was the first Tchaikovsky suite I was introduced to and I was very fond of it for some time until I heard the other 3! - it isn't my favourite now. The 2nd and 3rd suites are finer I think. Listening to Bruckner symphony no.7.

                          This is weird, Megan. About two hours before I saw this, I was listening to a CD of Scottish music and it featured Andy Stewart's version of this song (and the unforgettable "Donald, Where's Your Troosers!")
