    Bach: Switched-On Bach (1968, CBS 5492)

The voices are so clearly distinguished that it does not seem true! Though, of course, not for HIP people.

I remember when those records came out. Isn't that done with the Moog synthesizer?

Indeed! I love Moog synthesizers. I visited their factory earlier this year, in fact.

The Moog synthesizer was at that time a relatively new and unknown instrument. Sorrano, what is the meaning of that word, switched-on?

            Beethoven: Missa Solemnis, op.123.

I'm no critic. However, listen to this, and tell me it isn't superb! Personally, I think is tremendous.

"Switched-on" is sort of a cultural terminology with reference, I believe, to the current music trends in the popular music world. That's not something I had a lot to do with, but it does reflect the music-drug culture of the 60's and 70's.

Well, after I posted, I looked at wiktionary.org. After sometime searching, I found the verb to switch on (verb switch with a preposition, I mean). It seems it has also to do with the face expression, if it suddenly changes, as if by turning a switch, the way Bach looks in the cover, full with indignation.

                Today:
Dave Brubeck: Time Out (1959, Columbia Records CL1397).

Glinka: Grand Sextet in E Flat
for piano, string quartet and double bass.

Rimsky-Korsakov: Piano and Wind Quintet in B flat
for piano, flute, clarinet, horn and bassoon.

Wind quintets are rather wonderful but there are few of them.
Beethoven and Mozart wind quintets have oboe, not flute.

Dave Brubeck et al.: Take five.

Happy idea of an irregular rythym in jazz.

                      John Lewis: Fontessa.

Dmitri Shostakovich: Jazz Suite, Waltz No. 2

Music I knew because of Barry Lyndon played by the same interpreters.

Schuman: his piano concerto (Martha Argerich).
