    Janos (Joannes, John) De Tahy (1865-1928) Hungarian painter, once famous in the USA for his allegorical depictions of the great composers.

      Yes a poster on a politics forum gave me the link to the artist, just yesterday.

      There's another Beethoven print by the artist on Ebay USA.

              Art? It's all so subjective and often open to ridicule.

              A few here and elsewhere jumped to conclusions because of how the Beethoven figure was displaying a finger.

              A case of unwisely projecting modern symbolism back to another century. I would love to see the original painting, and, it's size.
