I think it is simply that Mozart had both a deep side and a fun side, just like most of us do!

Listening to some Karl Jenkins (Adiemus) mainly because of a Christmas Carol performance I attended last night in a stately home in Killarney (at which a few non-seasonal pieces were sung).
The singers called themselves "Opus 96" and I was very intrigued because the Beethoven violin sonata is one of my favourite works (I know that there must be a few other Opus 96's but there is only one for me.)
I was a bit disappointed to find that the group's name came merely from the fact that they were formed in 1996.

They've probably got an MA in Marketing from the University of Melton Mowbray (where they make pork pies).

Sorry Michael, I'm in a food-based mood right now. See my Iberian Ham thread on the General forum.

If I may briefly bring it back to Beethoven, I remember reading some extract from the LvB conversation books where Louis scribbled the comment 'Yeah, the sausage is good.'

I tell you, Sorrano, Louis loved his food, it's all in the literature. I keep saying this, but I've never met a musician who doesn't like his victuals!

And brass players like their drink, I must say. And organists (being lonely types stuck up in the organ loft) are usually filthy beasts. 'Cellists (being the main foundation of all musical genres) are the salt of the earth. Violinists and viola players are merely failed 'cellists. Pianists are ... well, quite useful.

It's surprising he didn't write a canon on that.

I'd wager he did, though that bastard Schindler probably tore out the page and ate it.

There is a record album entitled The Wurst of P.D.Q. Bach.
