Megan, I did not know you were fond of contemporary music. Is it patriotism or have you been influenced by Roehre's example? Just kidding, but have your tastes in music always been so ample?

The Malcolm Arnold piece was played on the radio whilst I was washing up.
I have never heard this odd piece before and was curious to set out and find more about it. I always listen to BBC Radio 3 while busy with my household chores.

And the same shall I be doing in a short time for, right now, Radio 3 insists in my flash player being obsolete. By the way, I love the way you declared being busy with such a mundane matter while listening to classical music, which so many people place high in an altar.

Listening to Bach's double concerto over and over again. I would like to have new words for it, but so many have already been used!

                  Today:
                  Debussy
                  Préludes, book I

I think I have eaten too many chocolates already and it's not even dinner time yet.

I was wondering the same about Roehre, he hasn't been around lately.

Is that from the Hoffman (?) Music Festival - or some title like that? I think I have it on vinyl somewhere.

It's very funny and it includes such treasures as somebody (hardly Denis Brain) playing one of the Mozart horn concertos on a piece of hose-pipe and "Beethoven's Leonore No. 4" which has the off-stage trumpet coming in at all the wrong times. I had to give up listening to this last piece as it kept coming into my head whenever I listened to the real thing.

                          Bach, MatthausPassion
Kommt, ihr Tochter (Part I, mov 1)
                          Du lieber Heiland du
                          Buss und Reu'
                          Blute nur

                          Beethoven
                          Third symphony, first mov

                          Stravinsky
                          Pulcinella (complete)

In youtube, one of commentaries was: "Stravinsky was a genius of the highest order". Of course, no need to mention that, but if a work can give testimony of it, I think it is this, with Pergolessi or without him.

                            Symphony no.4
3rd mov ########## but then I could not resist going on with
                            4th mov.

When I listen to the fourh, I get the feeling that this is the greatest he wrote.
