A bold call Michael and well thought out - however I think I'll have to insist on 24 hours for your next answer! No.4 though is up for immediate grabs as it has been attempted.

I just posted an answer to Q5, but after checking the rules I've deleted it! Damn these rules!

Again very well done Michael - I was concerned this one was too vague and was prepared to add Spanish as a further clue.

If everyone agrees I'll reduce the time limit to 12 hours instead? Any thoughts?
BTW you can blame Michael for suggesting I try to make these Google proof!

Q5 : After some frantic Internet searches I came up with this : Bartok, Concerto for Orchestra. My mate Google tells me Bela was on the brink of madness and/or bankruptcy when he composed it.

Afraid not - I wouldn't rely on Google. I'll give you a further clue in that I thought this was one you would definitely get, if that helps!

Didn't notice the time limit had been reduced to 12 hours and as I happen to be up at the ungodly (for me) hour of 8.30, I'll have a go at No. 1:

                    "Albert Herring" by Benjamin Britten.

I think 12 hours is enough really and provides a lot more momentum to the quiz. After this round I'll wait to the beginning of October for the next - they'll be a monthly feature from now on.

No more clues allowed I'm afraid Megan - but if you have an answer have a go!

My 12 hours are up. Getting desperate now for the last remaining question.
Q5 - a long shot, but here goes: Rodrigo Concerto for Guitar, composed in 1939 on the brink of WWII?

Come on Peter, put me out of my misery. Medium calibre shotgun will do the trick. Hmm, that could be a cryptic clue for a later quiz.

No 5 might be Elgar's cello concerto, composed while he was living at a place or house called Brinkwells?
